Frequently Asked Questions

As a member of The Platinum Group Africa there will be times when you have questions & need answers, to assist you in making the most of your ownership/membership with us. Below you will find the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions. We hope they are helpful.

1. How long will it take for my lease to be registered?

Once you have completed your ownership payments, your lease will be registered by our company lawyers and the process normally takes between 40-60 days. As soon as we have received your registered lease, you will be notified and asked to visit our office to collect it.

2. Are there any legal fees that I must pay?

Yes. As with any property purchase here in Kenya, it is required by the government that a stamp duty charge of 4% be paid at the time of lease registration. This is NOT paid to us but directly to the government. Also a lease registration fee must be paid; this can either be paid at our office or directly to our company lawyers.

3. When can I start utilizing the resorts and all the facilities?

You can start enjoying the resorts and all their facilities once you have completed 90% of you purchase price.

4. How do I make a reservation?

Making a reservation for your holiday is very simple. All you have to do is either visit the office and talk to our reservations department, send an email requesting the dates that you would like vacation or give us a call with your required dates & we will take care of the rest. Nothing could be easier.

5. Are there any additional charges that I must pay each year?

Yes, every year each owner must pay the annual maintenance fee of Ksh 15,000 each year. This is your annual contribution towards the maintenance and upkeep of your property and all the amazing facilities within the resort. This must be paid by the 1st February each year, in advance for the year ahead.

6. Are there any additional charges I must pay whilst I am staying in my property?

Yes, you must pay the daily utility fee of Ksh 1,500/- per family per day, whilst you are staying in your property. This covers unlimited water/electricity, daily maid service, laundry & your private chef. You only have to pay the utility when you are staying in your property. This must be paid upon arrival & at the time of check-in at the resort.

7. Am I able to rent out my weeks?

Yes, you are able to rent out your weeks whenever you wish. As you are the owner, you can rent your weeks to friends, family or even colleagues and charge as little or as much as you wish. Platinum Group do not deduct any money from your rental return.

8. How far in advance of my holiday must I make the reservation?

As you can imagine, during the high seasons (Easter, August & December holidays) the resorts get very busy so we request that you book as far in advance as possible however, if you wish to utilize your fractions outside of the peak seasons, making your reservation one month in advance is normally sufficient.

9. Will I need to pay for my food & drinks while I am on holiday?

Yes, you will. The bill for your food & drinks must be paid before you check-out of the resort.

10. Can my lease be used as a bankable security/collateral with Kenyan banks?

Yes, absolutely. As with any other property, you can lodge your lease with any bank and use it as a security for a loan. Nearly all banks will offer between 50-75% of the value of the lease.

11. Am I able to sell my fractions?

Yes, you are able to sell your fractions at any time. You can sell your fractions or membership privately to anyone you wish, for any amount you choose. If you need assistance, we are ready to help you at any time.

12. How do I refer a friend?

It’s so simple! Simply pass their details to your personal relationship manager or click on the “refer a friend” tab on the website and we will contact them and invite them for a presentation. Simple as that.
